Glad you're now resettled comfortably.

Vegans are welcome to their beliefs just like anyone else but I reserve the right to heartily disagree. However I no longer argue or debate with those who already have their minds made up. It's just frustrating and pointless.

And Sharon, no, it's more like I was allergic to the dermatologist! quite aside ...Re: vegans' objections to wool...
quite aside from the issue of mulesing, vegans object to the use of wool on the grounds that it is using animals for humans' ends. Vegans are ethically opposed to using *any* animal products, whether or not actual pain or discomfort is caused to the animals involved.

As Ms. Robson correctly points out, it was human manipulation of merinos -- breeding them to have as many folds of skin and therefore as much wool as possible -- that created the need for mulesing. Vegans object to this type of human intervention in the lives of animals.

I am not a vegan, and as you know, I use plenty of wool! However, I think it only fair that this point be raised.

And on another note...very interested in the rhubarb-leaf mordanting! Now that I'm settled in my new place, I'm eager to try some more dyeing. :o)yarnpiggyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13757646132631075487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12698509.post-70679828108147260222011-05-06T11:02:01.501-07:002011-05-06T11:02:01.501-07:00Maybe you were allergic to Dyes??? Mine will be shifted soon. It's a big job!

The Itchy-Peelies disappeared sometime in November last with a final boot from prescription Protopic ointment. Never to return - I hope. I'll be watching to see what cochineal does to that yarn!! By the way, my spider plant has been outside on the back of the patio since the beginning of March with no problems - I admit I brought him in a time or two when it got close to 0 but other than that, he's been outside. I think your bigger tomatoes will be safe. My mother used to put plastic milk jugs over them at night for the first couple of weeks . . .
By the way, how's the skin problem??? Did you finally solve it???Sharon in Surreyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12864797100804511728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12698509.post-31222536460261624512011-05-04T11:15:03.353-07:002011-05-04T11:15:03.353-07:00Interesting colour from rhubarb leaves.
